ETHICS IN WRITING AND PUBLICATION

I am going to voice my opinion about something that seems be going on here. I am sure it is legal and certainly has to do with first amendment rights. That is, this whole thing of advertising books published in other electronic media sites on The Story Mint’s site. This seems to me to be a violation of the “spirit of the law “, even if it is not the “letter of the law”. To me this is what ethics is all about. Maybe ethics is an old-fashioned thing that has gone out of style but I think what Enos is doing about advertising his new website on this site is unethical because he is using The Story Mint’s site (FACEBOOK) to promote a business that is in direct competition with the business of The Story Mint. To a lesser extent, it is true also with Greg and Enos promoting the publication of their books by another electronic publisher strikes me also as a violation of business ethics. Putting a link on The Story Mint web site is shows real lack of respect for The Story Mint. In my opinion, this is something that just should not be done on this site. This country and its people seem to be willing to tolerate this kind of behavior in the name of “free enterprise.” I for one do not want to see this kind of behavior become the accepted norm either in The Story Mint or in our society. I believe one of my responsibilities as a writer is to be a written “conscience” to remind us who were are and where we are headed.
