Challenges

Need to spice up your writing life?  How about challenging your fellow writers to a duel?

THROWING DOWN THE GAUNTLET

I challange EVERYBODY who is a member to write a serial starter. If you are a member and have not contibuted a serial chapter then sign up and write a chapter,
then WRITE A SERIAL STARTER! Last one to do it is a rotten egg!!

I'm ahead!

I do believe I might just be ahead in the starter challenge :)

You may be ahead for now...

But I predict a tie will be the eventual result...

then WRITE A SERIAL STARTER! Last one to do it is a rotten egg!!

A gauntlet on the ground.

Mute, waiting to be noticed
wanting its soundless
cry responded to with
alacrity;
one could hope.
It lay patiently, as the first evening
came and then some moons
and a collection
of sunrises followed like a
regularly changing guard.
Children ran past but
no gauntlet-seeking writer
came to that part of the park.
Oaks kept watch as it
became covered in their drifting
dead leaves
hidden as the gas technician bustled by
looking for the leak.

Dueling with commas

You've all seen, no doubt, that illustration that proves commas can save lives when inserted - a bit like a hospital drip, I suppose.

"Lets eat Grandpa..." "Let's eat, Grandpa."

So here's the challenge:
Make up a new example that shows the importance of commas in a dramatic fashion. Don't go googling for an answer, write yer own :)

Here's a couple:

Resting the dancer won't inspire a better performance.
Resting, the dancer won't inspire a better performance.

The army celebrates a battle, with a lot of hand-to-hand combat.

Prize for the best; a humble comma: pick your own.
