Evening was almost falling and a soft orange glow settled over the spectacular skyline. Anton Bancroft sat in his plush office, deep in thought.
Dianna needed to die. If only Linda had submitted to him like she always did, he would not have to get his hands bloody again.
*********
The bar closed and people trickled out. Bernard picked up his jacket and Sam followed him to a back room.
“So one thing is clear. Both Dianna and Linda were probably killed on the same night but at two different places.” Bernard’s cop brain was in overdrive. A sense of excitement rushed into his veins as he delved into doing what he did best.
“While Dianna’s throat was slit with a knife, Linda was shot in the head. From what I saw,” Sam pointed to her head, “there were two people involved in Dianna’s murder, a man and a woman.”
“And Linda was killed by a man; the same man?” filled in Bernard.
“But where is her body? And if she was an accomplice to Dianna’s murder, who killed her and why?”
Sam was overwhelmed: two homicides, one body found in an alley and the second probably lying in another alley somewhere; a triskelion pendant found on Dianna’s body; and her vision showing the same pendant around Linda’s neck. Whatever the connection between the two women, the triskelion pendant was definitely the strongest link.
And Bernard was the only one who could help establish that link.
*********
Sam was initially hesitant to visit the exclusive “Triskelion Tops & Bottoms”. Her first encounter was when Bernard took her to this BDSM dungeon during one of their dates. He was the founding member of the club and membership was by invitation only. Being a cop, Sam had reservations but it was a highly secretive community and member confidentiality was paramount.
As if to compensate for the exorbitant fees, each member was given a gold chain with a triskelion pendant as a welcome gift. Sam had discarded hers after her split from Bernard. She had discovered Bernard’s ruthless and violent side after a few ‘scenes’ where he had almost strangled her to death. She had been so traumatised that no amount of begging from his side could stop her from walking away.
Discovering the triskelion pendant on Dianna’s body, Sam knew what it meant. It was a key to Dianna’s past, and perhaps that of Linda’s too.

There was urgency in Anton voice as he summoned his secretary/ mistress to his office.
“Dianna knows about the Apex deal. She has read Harrison’s messages tipping me off to sell the 5000 shares of Apex Pharmaceuticals just a day before the company declared bankruptcy. She has threatened to approach the police.”
Colour drained from Linda’s face.
“She needs to disappear before she says anything to anyone..……..for good.”
“You will kill her?”
“Not me. WE. We are in this together. We stand to lose millions if she opens her trap.”
